Mainstream music trends are constantly evolving. The emergence of Grunge in the early 90s was not unique in this regard. However, opinions differ on whether Grunge’s mainstream success was an organic shift driven by listeners seeking a rawer, emotionally visceral style of music or whether it was driven by the music industry seeking to exert control over a new, younger group of bands. Regardless, it cannot be denied that the rise of Grunge coincided with the cancellation of an entire genre of music and skillset. Among the casualties were a few rising bands, one being Firehouse.
